It's gone largely overlooked but there are numerous ways public resources are going towards financially supporting weapons manufacturers during this crisis. First the Navy is accelerating contract awards to protect the profits of defense contractors http://inthesetimes.com/article/22436/weapons-manufacturers-raytheon-lockheed-martin-essential-workers-military
Second, the DOD implemented its "Deviation on Progress Payments," a policy it says is aimed at improving "industry cash flow"--i.e. directing millions of dollars into the coffers of defense companies.
Then, there's the DOD's guidelines saying the “Defense Industrial Base” is essential work. People building tankers & missiles are showing up to work. I talked to one worker who's worried because someone at his job site tested positive for COVID-19 (his workplace is non-union).
Finally, there's the $17 bil in the stimulus package earmarked for Boeing and companies like it (though it doesn't mention them by name). This came weeks after Trump said at a news conference, “So, we’ll be helping Boeing.”
All of this enables US mil aggression, which should be opposed in its own right—b/c of the direct harm it causes to the people facing bombs, sanctions and intimidation. It also makes the whole world more vulnerable to the COVID-19 outbreak, given the global nature of the pandemic
