Very disappointing and worrying Covid19 figures in France today after several days of reduction. The number of hospital deaths in the last 24hrs jumped to 833, a new record, following 357 yesterday. The death toll in France, including nursing homes, is now 8,911.
Sorry, the 833 figure includes deaths in nursing and old people's homes. All the same...
Hospital deaths were 603, highest for some time but not a record. The most watched figure - admissions to intensive care - also leaped after many days of decline. There are 7,772 seriously ill Covid10 patients in Fr, an increase of 478 on Sunday (when 140 new cases were reported)
The health minister, Olivier Veran, who announced the figures tonight, said: "Day after day our efforts allow us to get through the peak of the epidemic. It's not over. There is a long road yet to travel."
As you were. Two different figures for new admisssions to intensive care in France have been give. The correct figure seems to be 7,072 people now in animation, not 7,772 which means only 94 new admissions, compared to 140 yesterday. So some good news in the small print after all
