still thinking about the amina wadud conversation i attended at the british library where she kept emphasising and returning to speaking on the boundless mercy Allah graces us with and how i left, feeling excited and curious about reconnecting with islamic texts and faith.
i wish i wasn’t raised to associate islam with connotations of fear, guilt, shame and punishment bc it is truly traumatising to attempt to turn to faith as solace and marry those emotions with it. the latter always wins out and all that remains is a deep deep disconnection.
anyways woman scholars are so so important and needed! want to spend this ramadan very intentionally engaging with their interpretations and lectures on islam and building my own solo relationship with quran
