I've been torn between not wanting to alarm people and wanting to livetweet as a public service, and the public service won so here goes:

We are officially a COVID-19 household.

A STORY THREAD.

On Saturday, my husband got up all chill and whatever. Ate some food, killed some d00dz on Call of Duty, as you do.

Around midmorning he started SHIVERING. Could not get warm. Took about 45 minutes, three quilts and a heating pad to stop.

So we sort him out, take his temp and it's 101F.

Three phone calls later, it's 100.2F. Our doctor's office sends him to their COVID-19 clinic.

The words "I had a pulmonary embolism last year and am on immunosuppressants" get you tested, I guess.

Results? HAHA STILL WAITING.

The clinic said it could be FOURTEEN DAYS before we have results.

If you're playing along at home, you know that we'll know long before then what course this is gonna take.

The doctors did, however, tell us we're quarantined.

We are only allowed in our house, yard, or the back of an ambulance for the next two weeks.

(Or until we have test results? Fuck if I know, everyone's making this up as we go.)

Anyway, yesterday was uneventful. Husband slept a lot and today he doesn't even have a temp.

I felt GREAT yesterday. Dug the garden, froze a bunch of vegetables, made soup and applesauce and muffins.

This morning? Urgh.

I don't have a fever yet. In fact, my last temp was 96.5F, and it is 60F in my house currently. But I FEEL WARM.

I also feel fatigued. Like every physical exertion takes 4x the energy it usually does.

Slight headache, but that could be allergies.

The most disturbing part by far is the chest pain/tightness.

It's at the top of the lungs, just south of the collarbone. It's like my upper chest wall has been embedded with concrete slabs I have to push out when I breathe.

It's unnerving.

I did use my asthma inhaler on it.

It did not work.

I'm just waiting to see what develops.

Now the part I'm sure you're all wondering:

WHERE DID WE GET IT?

We've been shut in since March 13, so the candidate list is short: Costco or while delivering school lunches.

Could be either, really.

Anyway, the moral right now is to STAY HOME and WASH YOUR HANDS.

PLEASE.

I'll update with the #VerityGetsCOVID19 hashtag when new things happen, until I either recover, get stuck on a ventilator or die.
