Important update on masks, with Canada's chief public health officer saying wearing one could protect others from any droplets you may spread. It won't protect the wearer, but could protect others. https://twitter.com/CBCAlerts/status/1247197579454164992
This debate has surged in recent weeks, with people criticizing Canadian officials for not mandating we all wear masks. But there is no great evidence that wearing masks is effective at reducing disease spread in the community. Also, fears it can create a false sense of security.
Also, many people wear masks and constantly adjust them, touching their face in the process, which negates any protection. It's certainly possible to wear a mask properly in public, so have at it. But let's not forget what is proven to work: staying home, avoiding others.
