I just got off the phone with a friend. He's an engineer whose daughter is an ER doc in NYC. She's been sending him a lot of ranting texts about the "system's" lack of preparedness, and how it's affecting her and her colleagues. She's already lost two coworkers to CoViD-19. 1/n
So, my buddy decided last night, that he was going to spend the next couple days putting his noodle to work brainstorming from a safe social distance with other engineers, product developers, et al who could help in the quest for cranking up the supply of PPE. 2/n
I'm thinking that there are a number of small business that are engaged in the production of tooling and roll-stock converting, whose personnel are idled to one degree or another, who could be nimble enough to get ramped up to start producing this stuff in very short order. 3/n
Of course if we had an Administration that was actually using the power of the DPA and that had anyone with REAL manufacturing experience, I wouldn't be writing this thread. But, clearly, that is not the case. 4/n
Manufacturers would have been told already what part they would be playing in battling CoViD-19 and we wouldn't be too far from getting more PPE to the front-line workers who need it. Since government is stepping up, the private sector needs to step up to the plate here. 5/n
