Honoring the dead is an essential task in Judaism, and one taken extremely serious -- it's one of the most profound of the mitzvot, and we have a specific process.

Don't suggest mass cremation unless it is absolutely necessary. The physic toll to Jews would be catastrophic.
Jews aren't alone in this either. I know that Greek Orthodox and Islam also oppose the practice.

This is going to be so hard on so many. It's bad enough to lose someone. Please respect the customs of the dead.
