MAJOR UPDATE Thread RE: COVID19 Testing

(I feel like I'm this 🤏 close to donning a tinfoil hat)

No one I've contacted a/b where the covid19 tests came from has answered me. Not Jamal Bryant, or the reporters who initially shared the event.

No judgement , just facts.
When I followed up w/one of the event's partnering orgs, RoweDocs, I learned that they also send test kits (& were the ones doing the assessments for the event). But they refused to share the name of the laboratory they use. Again, I'm just sharing what has actually happened.
I think anyone doing work to close the gap around racial disparities in COVID19 tests should be commended!

I don't know why it's so hard to get the answer:

A) to who is providing the test kits for Jamal Bryant's now postponed event, and

B) What lab RoweDocs use for tests?
I also reached out to RoweDocs founder. We haven't talked.

But I finally talked to someone from the Federal Drug and Administration (FDA) and the agent told me that THERE ARE NO FDA APPROVED AT-HOME TEST KITS. Currently they HAVE to be administered by a Doctor.
already learned this from my research, but the agent shared that there are labs that have been approved via the Emergency Use Authorization. I've asked that a list of those be emailed.

The 'at-home test kits' that the person from RoweDocs said they could send isn't FDA approved
So now I'm curious if

A) The test kits Jamal Bryant was planning to use were these kinds of test kits

B) If this is why RoweDocs refused to provide me the name of the lab?
As of 12pm I talked to RoweDoc's care coordinator, who returned my call under the impression I wanted to set up an appointment.

I learned the timeline for at home testkits is coming out today(?) She said she couldnt tell me the name of the lab producing them b/c she didn't know
I asked her

1) Who were the labs? Was it customary to refuse to name a lab a doc is using?

2) Seeing as these tests aren't FDA approved will they come with a waiver? And will insurance cover non FDA approved tests.

She couldn't answer either.
I have some speculation and more questions, but think this it's time to explore pitching this as a bigger story.

Experienced advice & direction welcomed, friends.
