The Life Of Daddy Tyrone Power: A Thread
Tyrone Power was a progressive bi-king of his day. Not only did he work his way into the movies, but he worked his way into the hearts of the world.
Stardom was practically in Tyrone’s blood. He descended from William Grattan Power, a famous Irish actor of the 19th century who went by the name Tyrone Power.
In the 19th century and even in the early 20th century, Irish people were viewed as second class citizens amongst Europeans. Often times they were compared to apes!
And when the Irish potato famine of the early 19th century occurred, their colonizers (the British) didn’t care to help them. They were treated like animals and left to die.
And so Tyrone Power did everything in his power (haha) to humanize the image of an Irishman. Instead of using stereotypes in his performances, he presented Irish characters with respect and class.
Tyrone had a fulfilling career and wanted to take it to the next level. He was geeked to get the chance to sail on the SS President, the biggest steamboat of its day.
But the shit hit the fan when the boat disappeared in a storm over the Atlantic Ocean. The ship totally disappeared along with all of the passengers.
Tyrone was only 43 years old. But in his short life, he was able to make a name for himself. He definitely left a legacy.
Luckily, Tyrone had a son, Frederick Tyrone Edmond Power Sr.... his son wanted to walk in his dad’s footsteps and so he became an actor as well under the same name— Tyrone Power
At just 17 years old, Tyrone took to the stage. He had the juice, by the time silent films came around he had an arrow of stage hits under his belt. And he dabbled in film as well.
But on May 5th, 1914 he had a little baby boy who he named Tyrone Edmund Power III. And he knew he was gonna be a stage KING!
As a boy, Tyrone didn’t necessarily want to jump into acting just yet. He attended Catholic school his whole life and spent his time as a normal young boy.
But when he graduated high school, he knew he was ready to be the next acting daddy king of his day
Tyrone’s dad mentored him in teaching him how to have all the juice on that stage.
Together they moved their asses from Cincinnati, Ohio to Chicago. Tyrone played a small part in his father’s play, and his dad was proud asf of his son’s determination
The father and son went out to California in 1931 so that Tyrone Sr. could appear in a movie. But after collapsing on set, he needed to take a break
At just 62 years old, Tyrone Sr. experienced a heart attack just two days before Christmas. Tyrone Jr. was holding his father in his arms as he died.
So after Tyrone’s dad fell tf over and died, our little Ty Ty had no one looking out for him. He was stuck in California and broke. No one gave a fuck about his legacy.
Just to get some bread on the table, Tyrone set aside his pride and played an extra in Tom Brown Of Culver (1932). You can see him on the right side of the screen acting like a little asshole.
Ty Ty played small roles on stage, and then finally got a role as Benvolio in Romeo & Juliet. You know, Romeo’s little side piece. 😋
A studio talent scout spouted Tyrone and was like damn that’s a daddy. So he offered him a 7-year film contract for $200 a week.
But then his mentor, Katherine Cornell was like ‘honey, don’t go’ because she felt that Tyrone didn’t have the skill to star in movies
But then another Hollywood scout invited Tyrone out to New York for another screentest. And this time Tyrone was sure to ignore our girl Keke’s advice.
20th Century Fox was trying to pick its feet off the ground in Hollywood. Their biggest stars were Fay Wray and little Shirley Temple.
What the lacked especially was a sexy male star. While rival MGM studios had plenty of snacks on their roster, Fox hadn’t found one.
Darryl F. Zanuck ran 20th Century Fox at the time. Remember his name, because this man’s clout is what’s gonna fuck up EVERYONE’S lives throughout the thread
To test how Tyrone would do with audiences, Zanuck squeezed him a small role in the 1936 movie, Girl’s Dormitory. He only had a few lines, but people were totally taken by his BDE!
Hedda Hopper, one of the most popular gossip columnists could make or break your career. If she liked you, then the world would like you. If she hated you, the world would hate you too!
Lucky for Tyrone, Hedda thought he was a snack. She said she watched Girl’s Dormitory twice in theaters just to get a chance to see his name in the credits.
Tyrone was now Hollywood’s latest rising full course meal
Despite his popularity with the audience, Zanuck still wasn’t convinced that Tyrone had the star power Fox was looking for.
Tyrone wanted to make it in acting without anyone’s help. But it just wasn’t working out with him. So Tyrone took advantage of lineage privilege and called up director Henry King.
Lucky for Tyrone, Henry was working on Fox’s next big hit— Lloyd’s Of London (1936).
Actor Don Ameche was already casted for the part. But like magic, Don was dropped from the movie and Tyrone was casted.
At only 23, Tyrone was a hit in the movie. Afterwards he was getting 1000+ fan letters a day. Majority of them were girls telling him their measurements and promising to give him pussy.
They also wrote into the studio and begged for them to allow more “love” scenes with Tyrone. Since he was so damn good at showing sex on screen with just his eyes and a kiss.
When it comes to Don Ameche and Tyrone, there was no bad blood between the two. They stayed friends for years. (Some even say Ty was a bottom for Don... but you didn’t hear it from me!)
Tyrone was staring in multiple studio hits now. They gave him the sexiest scenes they could.

They even gave him those crazy stalker but he’s cute so it’s okay roles. Kind of like what’s in the Notebook, Purple Rain, 50 First Dates, etc.
Now that he was a star, he also began hoeing around. His dick spread faster than corona. Tyrone was sure to take an advantage of his fame with both women AND men.

He fucked practically every female co-star he ever had!
Sonja Henie felt that Ty was the love of her life. Little did she know he was fucking like 10+ girls at once.
Linda Darnell thought Ty would settle down with her. News flash: he didn’t.
Madeline Carroll thought this new kid to the scene would behave. He didn’t.
Later in his life, Silvana Pampanini got her piece. But once again, he wasn’t budging.
And poor little Dorothy Dandridge didn’t know what was coming to her when she got with an older Tyrone. I feel bad for her. She had enough drama!
But back in the 1930s, Norma Shearer got that Ty dick— and she never was the same. She rushed over to her studio and begged them to allow him to star in her next film on Marie Antoinette
The only problem was that the film was at MGM, which was Fox Studio’ rival. After begging Zanuck, he allowed MGM to borrow Ty for the film.
Despite the stars involved and the high budget— no one gave a fuck. No one cared about Marie Antoinette. It was kind of like Cats (2019), a bunch of money and talent down the drain.
Zanuck was like hell no that shit’s embarrassing. As long as Ty was under contract, he’s never allow Tyrone to film another movie at another studio again! He wasn’t gonna allow anyone to stop his bag.
For damage control, Zanuck had Ty star in another period film at Fox studios, Suez (1938). He made sure to put him next to the fabulous Loretta Young.
On the set, Ty was macking with Miss Loretta. And things were getting heated with them.
But he had another side piece on the set of Suez. The young French actress, Annabella, was after that Power cock.
By the time they’d finished filming, Tyrone was smitten with Annabella. He fell in love with her and asked her to do one thing: provide him with a son
In 1939 they tied the knot. People who knew Tyrone personally were a little shocked that someone who got around as much as him actually got cuffed
Everyone was seemingly happy except Zanuck. He felt that Tyrone being married would ruin his image of being available to his female [and male] audience
And so he arranged a bunch of publicity stunts for him. For example, he held a poll at Fox for Hollywood’s best actor and actresses... which they received individually like below
But then he also had a movietone clip edited to seem as if they were a couple... not just two people who happened to win a popularity contest
