I am very disappointed to see Long-Bailey taking on the education brief on the shadow bench. This means more years of defending policies that have delivered for the most vulnerable in the country whilst narrowing the attainment in education. RLB's views on education stifle...
...innovation and competition in school. Entrenched in a philosophy of rewards for all, the freedoms in which recent educational successes could be washed away: a 'National Education Service' to replace free schools and academies. Pioneering schools shut down. Excellence removed.
RLB would simply closing down good schools for the sake of ideology.

She would remove parental choice, which has allowed parents to vote with their feet and incentivise schools to be the best they can be.

She would bring in the debunked one-size fits all approach, the sink school mentality of yesteryear, which harms the poorest and most vulnerable.

She would allow a system to thrive where well-off parents can use their money and cultural capital to outmaneuver catchment areas.
She would remove the long-overdue rigour now applied to our examinations and create an education system that says 'how high?' to every jump demanded from an ever-belligerent teaching union population. This is education by ochlocracy, not community and we will must continue to...

...those who understand then the most: the teachers. Be they pioneering heads of schools like @Miss_Snuffy or otherwise, we must defend our track record. Sure, Kier's more moderate, but RLB's as extreme now as she was before - & she's been handed the most important policy brief.
