Community colleges serve their communities as much as they serve students. In honor of Community College Month #CCMonth, we& #39;re highlighting the many ways community colleges and our #AspenPresFellows are going above and beyond to make a difference in the fight against #Covid_19.
We wouldn& #39;t have a medical workforce without community colleges. @OwensCC @ForsythTechCC @accdistrict and many other schools are donating PPE and other critical medical equipment to hospitals in their regions. https://www.kvue.com/article/news/community/coronavirus-acc-ppe-donations-austin-personal-protective-equipment/269-0dd18f71-dd6d-457c-a9b6-b484093cf375">https://www.kvue.com/article/n...
Likewise, @lorainccc is one of many community colleges manufacturing medical supplies, such as face masks, respirators, and headbands for safety visors. https://www.lorainccc.edu/newsroom/lorain-county-community-college-is-3d-printing-safety-visor-kits-for-local-hospitals-and-medical-facilities/">https://www.lorainccc.edu/newsroom/...
Culinary arts programs, like those at @ReynoldsCollege and @HudsonCCC, are donating produce and other reserves to food banks. https://www.cbs58.com/news/matc-donates-food-supplies-from-culinary-arts-program-to-hunger-task-force">https://www.cbs58.com/news/matc...
We at Aspen have visited many colleges& #39; state-of-the-art medical training facilities that simulate hospitals in every respect. Now, many (including @MuskegonCC) *are* hospitals, as community colleges offer them up as overflow sites. http://www.ccdaily.com/2020/04/converting-campuses-into-healthcare-facilities/">https://www.ccdaily.com/2020/04/c...
Know other examples of how community colleges are providing solutions for their communities during this crisis?
