I referenced the story of Noah on radio this morning in relation to @JakeTapper saying the White House needs a plan. Whether you take the story as real or mythology, consider this for a minute.
Noah first sends back a raven, which keeps flying until the waters recede. Then a dove goes and returns for there is no dry land. The dove again goes and returns with an olive leaf. Life is returning. The dove goes a third time and does not return. It has found a home.
We need a pattern and plan of showing the steps that will be taken to reopen our arks, our homes. The President's team must balance health, safety, and economy. So let us know -- in two weeks we're looking at X. If we see it, here's what we'll do. If we don't, 2 more weeks.
Then after those, here's what we'll do. But give people some expectation that we might first see the olive leaf and then there might be branch on which some can land. Then there is the expectation we can open the doors and come out.
Timelines help people plan and prepare. They don't give false hope. They set expectations that if we do X, then you get Y. It worked for Noah and the people on the ark. We need it for us too.
