The Indians of Canada use a very rudimentary bear trap. It consists of a large stone coated with honey, suspended from a tree branch by a rope.

When a bear sees what he believes to be a delicious treat, he steps forward and tries to grab the stone, kicking it.
It thus creates a pendulum movement and the stone returns to strike it.

The bear gets angry and bangs harder and harder. And the harder it hits, the more it gets knocked.

Until his final knockout.
The bear is unable to think, it only feels

"They hit me, I hit them!"

Exponential rage.
If the Bear stopped hitting it, the stone would come to a standstill and he might then notice, once calm is restored, that it is only an inert object hanging.

He would only have to slice it with his fangs to drop the stone and lick the honey.
But the Bear doesn't think.

The Bear only feels.

So do most men.
