April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM)&I just want to share some stuff:•Sexual Assault can genuinely happen to anyone, approximately 85,000 women and 12,000 men experience this every year, this is just a ballpark figure and I assume the real number is much higher. 1/5
•Almost every girl I know has been through some form of sexual assault. •Men can get assaulted, and no, it doesn’t make them any less of a man. •Any form of sexual violence/assault can cause PTSD the same way combat exposure can. 2/5
•The phrase “no means no” is outdated in my opinion. There are so many other things that mean no: being unconscious/too intoxicated, being forced/threatened into giving consent, being underage etc. •Asking someone for their consent is not a “mood-killer” 3/5
•There is no justification for rape/sexual assault. No “what was she wearing” or “she’s a slag anyway”. Fuck that mentality. No one “asks for it” 4/5
My @hopespotcc tshirt is available and money from the shirt will go to ROSA - a charity that supports victims of SA. My DMs will always be open to anyone who has been through something like this and I’ll do my best to offer support or point you in the right direction❤️ 5/5
