The specter of burying Covid dead in city parks reminds me a lot of Sarajevo, where nearly every park, every patch of green, has grave markers from the siege. https://nypost.com/2020/04/06/nyc-to-begin-temporarily-burying-coronavirus-victims-in-local-parks/?utm_source=twitter_sitebuttons&utm_medium=site%20buttons&utm_campaign=site%20buttons">https://nypost.com/2020/04/0... via @nypmetro
When I was in Sarajevo in 2006, it was impossible to walk through the city without thinking "what a terrible thing the world allowed to happen here." Every park turned into a cemetery will do that.
If we& #39;re forced to bury our Covid dead in New York City parks, we should keep them there, marked forever as a reminder of our national shame, so we can always remember what a terrible thing we allowed to happen here.
