When I was in Sarajevo in 2006, it was impossible to walk through the city without thinking "what a terrible thing the world allowed to happen here." Every park turned into a cemetery will do that.
If we're forced to bury our Covid dead in New York City parks, we should keep them there, marked forever as a reminder of our national shame, so we can always remember what a terrible thing we allowed to happen here.
