Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler have been stuck in the Bahamas with her hairstylist for 22 days THREAD
On March 12, the same day Cuomo announced that NY was in a state of emergency, Kristin posted this pic of her in unhemmed pants with the caption, “woke up in New York.” She lives in Nashville
On March 15, she posted this pic w/ her friend/hairstylist Justin Anderson as “modern family spring break.” Ppl immediately came for her so Justin posted the same pic with this caption. 3/15 was the day NYC announced schools+restaurants closing; Bahamas has 1st confirmed case
March 17 Anderson posts this pic confirming Jay Cutler is along for the ride, with Anderson’s fiance Scoot. Caption says “we couldn’t leave here if we tried” he doubles down in the comments here
Also “empty island?” What about the people who live and work there?
At this point, the Bahamas had not restricted travel out of the country. Cavallari and Anderson promote VeryCavallari and her brand Uncommon James, acknowledging “it feels weird to promote”
Now it’s around 3/20. Kristin posts a pic with her kids who are apparently there too. The Bahamas have mandated a curfew and closed all essential businesses. You can still leave tho. I wonder if they have staff or if it’s a resort? Unclear.
The next few days on their Instagrams are all about beaching, day drinking, working out and doing dumb contests like flipping a tortilla with a scuba flipper into a bowl on their heads
Okay now it’s 3/24 and the Bahamian Gov. has closed the ports for incoming travel and urges any visitors to make arrangements to leave. The US Embassy does as well or cautions travelers may have to remain abroad “indefinitely” Cavs and Ands post a workout vid “keeping it tight”
After a couple more beach pics and a thousand negative comments on their posts, the gossip sites start reporting on it on 3/28. Hollywood Life says a “source” claims that they’ll be back to the US “early next week” which would have been 6 days ago.
The big thing around this time is Anderson starts saying that “home” meaning the US is not as safe as the Bahamas. Cutler posts this pic of a volleyball.
I think around day 15-17 is when it sets in for the group that they may be stuck for a v long time. Anderson says he misses his bed and posts about negativity in the comments. I almost feel like they are getting Covid FOMO when I read her cookbook promo caption about comfort food
I guess nows a good time to mention Cavallari is an anti-vaxxer. Justin says he’s not sure the Bahamas quarantine will change her stance on that in the comments
Back to Boring Gilligan’s Island. April 4, the US Embassy updates its Bahamas page urging US citizens to return home. There are 29 cases and 5 deaths. They likely face a 14 day quarantine in the US after returning home. That’s if they can come back soon and make a case for it.
Now, on day 22, they’re still posting workout vids. Are they coming back? Is this a deal with the devil? This weekend’s NYT article feels relevant:
And finally, Cutler indicates that this is DAY 31 for him with his pic from 3 days ago captioned day 28. Maybe a counting issue? Either way, this is so nuts!
