The casual, BS Jordan/LeBron GOAT debate fabricated by the media has made everybody feel like they can talk hoop, that they can pick a side and debate it using the same casual takes made by said media.

This is by design. Promotes the current product, gets everybody involved.
However, those who truly know basketball and its history, know that LBJ is not in the convo

Russell, Kareem, Bird, Magic, etc have somehow been pushed aside in order to make the short attention span population focus on just 2 players, it's much easier to control people that way.
Kobe Bryant, the superior basketball player and career > LeBron, has been pushed aside for years (and casually crapped on) in order to prop up LBJ.

Despite Kobe playing in a MUCH tougher conf throughout his career, not stacking, and being more skilled on both ends of the floor.
Tim Duncan, who stayed with the same franchise through his whole career, played in a MUCH better conference, was a better player/leader who had a better career overall, is not even mentioned. Duncan > LBJ all time, but the media cant have that.

They need you focused on LBJ.
Shaq, who is one of the most dominant forces in NBA history, and won in a far tougher conference as well in LA, and battled titans like Hakeem/DRob/Ewing, is not mentioned in the convo despite his career/accomplishments

They need you focused on LBJ, period.
I could go on and on (Hakeem, etc)

But you get the picture

The strategy they use works like a charm. Take a look around on social media, comment sections, etc. Everybody feels like an expert, like they can chime in.

By design, and its unfortunate. So many legends disrespected
While im at it, might as well continue

Bill Russell is never mentioned by the media in the debate, even though he is the winningest player in NBA history, the greatest defender ever, and the ultimate leader/team champion.

They cant mention Bill, they need you focused on LBJ.
Larry Bird won 3 MVPS in a row, and was more skilled than LBJ. His career accomplishments stack up, and he played tougher competition. He played the same positon as LBJ, naturally they cant put him in the convo.

They need you focused on LBJ. Bird cant be in the discussion.
Magic Johnson won 5 titles in the 80s, had to go through BOS, and tougher top teams. The ultimate leader/team player, who got the best out of everybody around him. A better career>LBJ

But they need you focused on LBJ, only 2 people can be in the debate for short attention spans.
Kareem, the fact that he is not in the debate with all of his accomplishments is a major red flag. Those who know hoop laugh at the notion that LBJ would be in it, and KAJ left out.

But they cant talk about Kareem, or have Kareem in the debate. It has to be LBJ, he is NOW.
How is LeBron in it, but Wilt Chamberlain not? Oh right, because of the need to cater to short attention spans, can only have the debate between LBJ (now player) and one other legend (Jordan), that keeps everybody involved

Like LBJ, Wilt was a stat stuffer, albeit a better one.
Hakeem, who demanded a double team on almost every possession, and is one of the most skilled OFF/DEF players ever, while also having an incredibly accomplished career playing better competition, is somehow never brought up

But they cant have your mind on him, needs to be on LBJ
Julius Erving

Erving achieved the highest levels of excellence in the ABA (2 titles) NBA (1), won MVPs (3 ABA 1 NBA), and was incredibly skilled. Also played the same position as LBJ

But they need your focus on LBJ, only 2 can be in the debate to keep everybody feeling involved
More can be mentioned if LBJ is allowed to be in the convo, like Jerry West, Isiah Thomas, Steph Curry, etc

But again, the media needs you focused on only TWO players, one being a player who currently plays. By design, works like a charm. Everybody feels like experts/involved.
