Adjust your thermostat. Now is not the time to 'set it and forget it.' If the temperature is comfortable, consider a two-degree bump and see if you can stand it. Your heating and cooling system uses more energy than anything else in your home.
Cook differently. Now is great grilling weather so avoid using the oven, cooktop, or even microwave. The heat from ovens and cooktops can raise the temperature in the room thus making your AC kick on. Double savings by avoiding these appliances.
Unplug. If you are not using it, unplug it. This goes for lamps, coffee makers, chargers, everything. Walk around the house and look at every outlet. What does not need to be plugged in shouldn't be. We call these energy vampires.
Conserve water. Give your water heater a break with short showers, wash full loads of laundry on cold, and only run the dishwasher when full. Speaking of laundry and dishes, save more by air drying.
Ration electronics. Is everyone on different screens? Try watching together or take turns. Better yet, find other forms of entertainment. Who wants to play Monopoly?
