When you REALLY think about it, men have a bigger realization and appreciation for the actual foundation of what constitutes a relationship, whereas women base much of it on sex and/or material things.

Women are typically a lot more hopeful & optimistic when dating but also less patient. Men are typically more idealistic but at the same time more patient (or should I say not so hell bent on finding a wife) this is where a lot of the frustration comes from both sides
