Want to know about Encruzado?

Encruzado is a white grape that is indigenous to Portugal. Its homeland is in the Dao, where it thrives at the higher altitude and granitic soils. 1/5
It makes wines with an aromatic profile, holding the minerality of the soils with flavours of green and tropical fruits. Encruzado is highly age worthy and will develop for years.

As with many grape varieties in Portugal, it is mainly used as part of a blend. 2/5
However, Quinta dos Roques winemaker Luis Lorenco believed in the strengths of Encruzado as a single varietal and became the first to bottle Encruzado on its own. He still enjoys the reputation as the finest exponent of Encruzado, using oak to complement Encruzado’s profile. 3/5
At the recent @WPTUK tasting, speaking of Encruzado @TomSurgey of @ThreeWineMen ‘…diving deep into the complexity available in Encruzado was a real highlight…..considered oak work of Quinta dos Roques, I really enjoyed discovering what this grape brings to the wines of Dao" 4/5
