If he took out the maximum of the 18-19 season, then he‘s as well to hold responsible for falling 9 points behind Dortmund. Everything Kovac did in the second half of the season, is winning the games he‘s expected to win. Beating teams like Augsburg, Hertha or Düsseldorf. https://twitter.com/handsome_szn/status/1247093223715229696
That Dortmund couldn’t deal with the mounting pressure, is another story. Normally, you expect a team to win the league, when they‘re 9 points clear. In this case, Bayern haven’t won it, Dortmund lost it. Same applies for the 5-0 league win. The game was decided...
...before kick-off. Dortmund couldn‘t handle the situation. For the matter of the Leipzig game: RB dominated the first 30 minutes. The first goal came more or less out of the blue and broke their spirits. After that, it was a matter of time until they score the second and third.
Yes, the games against Real in 2014 and Juve two years later were far from perfect. But at least agianst Juve the team has shown a reaction after being 2-0 behind. They dragged it into extra-time and deservedly won the tie.
There was no reaction whatsoever against Liverpool. They‘ve equalised after falling behind and that‘s about it. Both shots on target in 180 minutes came off Joel Matip. Liverpool completely dominated the second half and rightfully won 3-1. They didn‘t even needed to...
...play brilliant. It was a decent game from Liverpool. No more, no less. They were far from being invincible. So, saying that Kovac got the maximum out of the 2018-19 season, is not true. He relied too much on key players and got lucky in the right situations.
That may work out in the Bundesliga, but it certainly doesn‘t in the UCL. And if Kovac had done a halfway decent job, he wouldn‘t have been replaced by Flick.
