As opposed to ‘dry’ markets, that sell clothes, electronics, etc.

The petitions are usually (if not always) based on ignorant Westerncentric misconceptions, not factual reality.
It’s like saying ‘Ban European farmers markets’ coz you heard traditionally some have sold cheese with live maggots or pâté made with blackbirds.

You have just demonstrated by that comment that you have no experience of having been to a wet market in Asia.
