Prediction: the US will lift the lockdown and India will follow suit. The Indian scientific "establishment" right now is like a rabbit caught in the headlights. It would ideally like a hundred year lockdown because it is "too early to tell" but you'll have bloody revolution......

So what to do? Once America removes lockdown, you get the "cover" you need to do the same (never mind that clamatic conditions in most of the US are vastly different with very different transmission rates). But Indians can't think for themselves despite protesting otherwise.

It comes down to this: the Indian brain (including those of so-called "nationalists") is fixated on the West (especially America). "Foreign" means West. Mexico or Brazil don't exist (neither had lockdowns and together have a 34 crore population combined - no outbreak).

72 years after independence, the West rules the Indian mind completely. See how simple this is? There is independence of action but none is shown.
