This tweet is to remind everyone that Hans Zimmer was robbed of the Oscar for Best Original Music Score in 2015! Interstellar is a phenomenal film but the score was (and still) on a different level!
The main theme (S.T.A.Y.) is written with two notes. Yet they evoke emotion beyond assessment. He said: "What matters is not how complex your melody is or how many instruments you use. What matters is how it makes you feel."
The movie is based around time and so is the music. He managed to make the audience sense the importance of time (or in this case lack thereof). He incorporated the rhythmic tickingnof time within the score itself. Simple ticks every second that serve as a reminder of time moving
It creates suspense and tension as time slips away cruelly. To amplify it even more, he includes percussive instruments. Hiding the magic of the film inside the score is absolutely astonishing. Usually, the score of a film is a second thought, or post production rite but-
Not here fellas. Zimmer worked on the score pre-production and thus, it feels integrated with the whole film. This thread may feel like a rant but it's a love letter to Nolan & Zimmer's child!
