We can and have been using predicted grades in Ireland. The SEC has been using assessed results when there were issues with the running of the exams. These, in essence, were predicted grades. (1/6) #leavingcert
The SEC called the system an established process, and they spoke of how this system generated fair results based on their “level of attainment and predicted level of performance in the subject.”. (2/6) #leavingcert
The SEC defended the fairness of this system, saying, “It would be patently unfair to penalise a candidate for examination delivery failures.” (3/6) #leavingcert
This process used the results of house/mock examinations as well as a candidate’s rank in the class. It then said that officials considered all of this information before arriving at an assessed result. (4/6) #leavingcert
Through no fault of the students, this year’s examinations will not run with standard procedures. For that reason, this established system should be used in the examinations cycle for Junior and Leaving certificate in 2020 (5/6) #leavingcert
