I keep repeating that "forced work from home" and "remote working" are very different.

I want to put an example out: Automattic has been a fully remote company since the day of foundation. With about 1200 people, we are one of the most experienced companies in remote work.
We do remote work.
We& #39;ve always done it.

Yet, since around March 1st we have had a decrease in both morale and productivity.

It& #39;s hard to quantify, but I did some inquiry and analysis and I can say that morale went down 25% in a sample team, some added 1-2 weeks to projects.
While I can& #39;t speak for the whole company, and for all the projects we are working on (I& #39;ll leave that to our amazing HR team), this should give you a clear indication on how we are affected too.

The reasons are many: anxiety, distractions, kids to take care of, other people...
So please keep it in mind.

If you were forced to work from home, you& #39;re dealing with two issues at the same time: one is the challenges of changing your work processes, one is dealing with the current forced situation.

You& #39;re not really experiencing the *remote work* benefits.
