The most baffling thing about 21st century booksellers is how none of the major publishing houses/bookstore chains have jumped in on Amazon's monopoly.

They have the structures in place and have a major unfair advantage that Amazon can't compete with.

Here's why:
Bookstores have a prestige that Amazon doesn't have.

Imagine receiving your book in a package by Waterstones or some other big chain. Looks much fancier than an amazon package.

They could even combine it with a special discount coupon nex time you visit a physical store
Wouldn't just be more attractive for customers

They could easily use that bookstore prestige to attract the writers

Imagine they add a sweet deal to independent writers where x amount of best selling self published books get a place in their physical stores each month
Or perhaps a place in physical stores whenever a self published writer makes x amount of book sales within a certain time period.

It is every writer's dream to get a prime place in the bookstores that they themselves love to frequent

Can't believe nobody is doing this
P.S. There is no real point to this thread. I'm not trying to sell you anything here.

Just thought it would be a nice example of how there are so many business opportunities everywhere that are blatantly obvious yet aren't capitalized on

Bookstores should have done this in 2005
