The most baffling thing about 21st century booksellers is how none of the major publishing houses/bookstore chains have jumped in on Amazon& #39;s monopoly.

They have the structures in place and have a major unfair advantage that Amazon can& #39;t compete with.

Here& #39;s why:
Bookstores have a prestige that Amazon doesn& #39;t have.

Imagine receiving your book in a package by Waterstones or some other big chain. Looks much fancier than an amazon package.

They could even combine it with a special discount coupon nex time you visit a physical store
Wouldn& #39;t just be more attractive for customers

They could easily use that bookstore prestige to attract the writers

Imagine they add a sweet deal to independent writers where x amount of best selling self published books get a place in their physical stores each month
Or perhaps a place in physical stores whenever a self published writer makes x amount of book sales within a certain time period.

It is every writer& #39;s dream to get a prime place in the bookstores that they themselves love to frequent

Can& #39;t believe nobody is doing this
P.S. There is no real point to this thread. I& #39;m not trying to sell you anything here.

Just thought it would be a nice example of how there are so many business opportunities everywhere that are blatantly obvious yet aren& #39;t capitalized on

Bookstores should have done this in 2005
