Status: staring blearily at science advocacy/
#scicomm responses to the 5G/Covid-19 myth that rely on explanatory interventions that it&
#39;s pretty clear from the anti-antivax and other cases *are not persuasive to the people they&
#39;d need to persuade in order to be of any use*.
It&
#39;s certainly worth circulating accessible materials on what viruses are and how disease transmission isn&
#39;t like signal transmission and how the hell anything in the twenty-first century can possibly need a "mast" and so forth. This will have other
#scicomm benefits anyway. But
telling people what to do on no justification other than your professed scientific or medical authority doesn&
#39;t work. Calling people stupid doesn&
#39;t work. Picking at decontextualised details doesn&
#39;t work.
Explaining Popperian falsifiability theory REALLY REALLY doesn&
#39;t work.
