A thread of some of the things I have learnt while watching all three phases of Marvel's Infinity Saga with Child aged 7, Child aged 17 and Child aged (almost) 21. #LockdownFilmFestival #DeathByMarvel

1. Not all films which belong to the saga are on Netflix.
2. Not all films which belong to the saga are on Disney Plus.
3. It is a good idea to find the films *before* all sitting down in front of the laptop / projector. It is a bad idea for more than one person to be involved in the search for said films at this critical point in time. (There is - or should be - only one keyboard)
4. If you want to avoid renting films on Amazon, work out how to access films well in advance. I'm talking days rather than hours. Especially if you are based in Germany and want to watch films in English.
5. Rating films out of 10 is a good idea in theory. It helps the discussion about the films and it's a lot of fun discussing plot-holes, reliving funny moments etc.

Creating a family rating out of 10 for each film is also a good idea in theory.
6. There will be many ratings of 10/10 by Child 7. This is not a problem. Unless Child 7 rates a film 3/10 which everyone else has given 9/10, in which case the family average is screwed.
Avoid the temptation to just remove Child 7's scores from the family average.
7. It's a good idea to watch no more than one film a day. We have tested this for you. You are welcome.
8. If you watch two films a day, make sure these are well spread out, with plenty of time for Child 7 to jump on a trampoline or bounce a ball or something which involves loud sounds and movement.
9. It is possible to watch three films a day, but I'm not sure it's worth it.
10. It is absolutely - and I cannot stress this enough - not advisable to watch four films a day.
11. Black people are a rare and exotic species until you get to Civil War. As are any people who are not cis-men. (Aliens of course are the very prominent exception.)
12. The Incredible Hulk is the first film I have ever watched during which I shouted out: "what the hell is this crap?"
13. I rated The Incredible Hulk 2/10.
Child aged 7 rated it 10/10.
This led to many arguments.
Child aged 7 refused to budge.
I changed my rating to 1/10.
This led to many more aruguments.
Child aged 7 is very resilient.
14. Captain America - Civil War was the only film which received a perfect 10/10 family average
15. We had a heated discussion about the figure Gamora or more specifically Black female representation in the Marvel series before Black Panther. This may be the subject of a new thread
16. Tears may flow when one participant loves a film and the other participants do not. (See tweet 13 above).
17. Discussions involving a child aged 17 and a child aged 7 are particularly difficult to moderate.
18. It's not a good idea to keep dissing a film that one participant loves and the others do not (see tweet 16).

Keep it moving.
19. Adopt the motto "we are all in this together". This means stop for toilet breaks, snack breaks, what-the-hell-is-going-on breaks. It also means no one gets to sneak out and leave everyone else suffering during a particularly bad film.
20. Exception to tweet 19. If someone falls asleep, let them rest. If they snore, try to get them to turn to the side.
21. People who fall asleep during the films don't get to ask questions.
People who fall asleep during the films may look unprofessional when it comes to discussing the ratings.
22. The funniest film in The Infinity Saga is Ant-Man. The best music is in Guardians of the Galaxy. The best post-credit film is at the end of Spider-Man. The best Stan Lee cameo is in Captain America - Civil War.
23. It is sometimes necessary to give a film you intensely dislike a "Best xxx" award. Especially if Child aged 7 loved it.
24. The film with the best video game look in The Infinity Saga is The Incredible Hulk.
25. Other films which divided the family are Avengers - Age of Ultron and Guardians of the Galaxy. Ok I did it. I divided the family. I intensely disliked both films.
26. Full disclosure: We have not yet watched Spider-Man Far From Home. This screens at 7pm today. We are however intensely frustrated & disappointed that this film ends The Infinity Saga, & it's terrible that the trailer spoils Avengers Endgame. That ain't right. Damn you, Sony!
