2/ Wally picks up that the Blues lifted off the back of Joey's involvement at dummy half.
Joey had battled form and injuries during the middle of the year, and was injured in the round leading up to Origin selection that saw Brett Kimmorley chosen to start at halfback in game 1.

3/ As Fatty would often do when commentating on Joey's games, here he again refers to Joey as the best player in the world.
It's worth noting Johns leave Paul Green clutching at thin air and in Joey's wake, for those out there fond of that comparison.

4/ Johns was essentially told that he wouldn't be playing origin that year, but Joey took that as a challenge. When Terry Hill was injured before game 2, Joey destroyed the bulldogs at Stadium Australia (that of the "cigar smoking" post try celebration) and demanded selection.
5/ I have always maintained the difference in that 2000 series was Johns, as evidenced by Wally's commentary leading up to this try.
There was then the unfortunate argument that a fresh Johns off the bench was more deadly than a fatiguing, tackling Johns from the start.

6/ It is worth noting that until Joey takes the field in game 2, NSW were lucky to win game 1, and game 2 was on a knife's edge, and there for the taking by he Maroons. Once Joey got on the park though, NSW never took their foot of the Queensland throat.
7/ Watching this try, Joey is involved in the play twice, including the break to set up BK and put Furner over. Joey was electric that series, and his domination of that ruck despite being a halfback for the Knights just shows he is a footballer first, a positional player second.
8/ 2000 would be the last year Joey ever played rep footy out of position. But far from it being a slight on Joey's legacy him having a huge impact from the bench, it just proves again that no matter where he played, Johns was always the best. Amazing.
