and yet, I keep seeing threads like this from the crowd who has been gaslighted to hate Trump so much that some of them may not take chloroquine if needed. No part of me wants to make fun of this. It's utterly sad and folks, it happens on both sides. https://twitter.com/mmpadellan/status/1246960217746812929
Yep, I said it. There are people on both ends of the political spectrum who are gaslighted to believe something. So you have to ask yourself: am I one of them? The answer to find out isn't easy. It's never been easy. You have to do your own research of primary sources.
The good news is that it's much easier to do this today than it was just 20 years ago. You don't have to drive anywhere to begin. I remember being in college (almost, never mind, it was a long time ago) and doing a paper about the businesses of American health care...
I spent weeks at the local medical school's library and our local govt repository to put together my paper. Today, I could do most of this in a matter of hrs and with the click of a button save it to my laptop or the cloud instead of xeroxing a few pages and hoping I got it all.
None of you reading this have to do any of that today, but some of you just rely on some graphics (with no references) to drive or rather reinforce what you think. But is it based on any real sources?
It comes down to this question for me: how do I know something is true?

Because a blue check told me?

If that's the answer, I'm probably being misled. Certainly, some of the blue checks come with great thoughts, but those should prompt great questions.
Question the shit out of everything. And if an ally says, "Don't do that. It will hurt us if you do that," get away from those people. Why do I say that? Through history, blind trust of authority is a bad deal.
Let me put a fine point on this. If Trump is as great as many of us think he is, he can handle questioning.
That question I asked earlier, "How do I know it's true?" is a question I hope my kids learned to ask when they were growing up under my tutelage. We'll see how that works out.
