Starting with the opening, i think they did a fantastic job. The visuals are amazing and they perfectly portrayed what kinda place the tower is in not not even 2 minutes.
You can see Baam visually struggling trying to climb something, while also portraying his mental state, and how lonely he feels. And i love how the lyrics of the song captures Baam& #39;s emotions so perfectly, "Go Up" and "Never let you go" fits season 1 Baam so well.
So the weird credits aside, the song is a banger and the opening as a whole is fantastic, while trying to spoil as little as possible.
The first episode might have been a bit confusing for people, thanks to the massive amount of info dumps already, but i promise you, a lot of the things mentioned, plus character motivations, get explained in-depth later on anyway.
They cut out some things, for example why Yuri and Evan were on the first floor, and to first time watchers it seemed like them being there was an asspull so that Baam could pass the test, but it& #39;s not. I believe they will mention it in later eps, so i& #39;m not going to spoil it.
I& #39;ve seen a lot of complaints about Baam being a "bland and boring main character" based on the first episode, and that& #39;s one of the worst takes i& #39;ve seen all year.
Baam basically grew up in a cave, not knowing anything, and the only other human being he knew was Rachel. Rachel leaving Baam to climb the tower, resulting in Baam chasing her, is how his story starts.
And simply calling Baam a simp for being attached the only human being he knew, is like calling Shinji from NGE a bitch for acting like a normal stressed out teenager.
Yes, he may be bland and stupid at first, but that& #39;s the intention. He doesn& #39;t know what the fuck is going on, and nor do we. They just tossed us in there, explaining nothing, and thereby perfectly portrayed the state of confusion Baam is in.
I mean c& #39;mon, he ate fucking grass when he got on the 2nd floor. He doesn& #39;t know anything about the world outside or in the tower, because he grew up in a cave.
I& #39;ve also seen a few people say that Baam get& #39;s all the support simply because he& #39;s cute, but that& #39;s not at all the case. It& #39;s mainly because he& #39;s an Irregular, but i dont wanna get into that yet.
Next, the worldbuilding. I never thought i& #39;d see the day where people complain about a series& #39; worldbuilding after the first episode or chapter, but here we are sigh.
I can proudly say, that Tower of God& #39;s worldbuilding is easily on par with One Piece& #39;s or Hunter x Hunter& #39;s, it just takes time. It should be common knowledge that setting and building up a world takes some time.
I dont even have to say anything about the sountrack man, those OST& #39;s that played in the first episode were godly. Kevin Penkin is the fucking goat.
And lastly, i just wanted to say that i have high hopes for the anime, even tho they cut some things and said it& #39;s only going to be 13 episodes. I just hope that they dont try to rush through things and take their time.
But thanks to the cast and the staff being huge fans of the manhwa, i think we& #39;re in good hands.
Thanks for reading this thread, i guess.
