Gather 'round ladies and gentlemen, have I got a covid-19 rumor story for you. This might take a couple of tweets, so I'll see if I can link them together.
I lost a filling the other day and my wife called to make an appointment for me.
She's also been suffering from a funky tongue thing where she is tasting or experiencing flavors without anything in her mouth. Apparently such a sensation is one of the symptoms of the virus. My wife (Tosh) mentioned this tongue feeling to the receptionist.
The receptionist freaked out, pressed all of her paranoid buttons. 20 minutes before I was getting ready to walk the five minutes to the dentist office, the dentist called. They requested that I change my appointment after the place is closed to avoid infecting others.
So my appointment was changed from 6 pm tp 7:15. Tosh asked the dentist whether should get a test. The dentist said, no, I don't really think you have the virus, but I have to keep my paranoid receptoinist happy. Plus, she added, no doctor is going to give you a test.
In other words, Tosh is being "accused" of having one of the symptoms and yet she has absolutely no recourse to get a test. Tosh is a good person (much more so than me) and she is now wondering if she should tell her boss at her school of this symptom.
I also finished before I sent this thread. If she tells her boss, her boss will tell her to stay home. Which means she losses the income. But she basically can't prove her "innocence" because she can't get a test. Very swived up. My appointment is in about an hour. We'll see.
