Cut my teeth in biz working for the company that did all their cars and basically every black celebs car back then. Birdman used to come in and buy like 10 cars and paint them ALL one custom color for the year and then bring em back a year later and buy a whole new fleet. https://twitter.com/nolaraplife/status/1246495369309143040
What’s crazy about this episode is that this is a lot of their old stuff. 2002 was the year a new body of the Rover and Escalade dropped. As well as the first year of the Hummer H2. They got a bunch of those done up. Just likely hadn’t arrived yet.
Birdman was still “Baby” back then. I remember him being mad b/c he assumed all his custom stuff wouldn’t lose value in trade ins because of the work he did to them and affiliation with him. Nope. Nobody wanted to pay a premium for those used stretch Chryslers lol. Just blown $
Yessir. I worked there full-time while I went to SC. I worked for a separate company in-house that did all the sales, leasing and financing of the vehicle. 310 did all the customizing. Crazy times. https://twitter.com/dabnisbrickey_/status/1247087518677381121?s=21 https://twitter.com/dabnisbrickey_/status/1247087518677381121
I became better at sourcing high-end vehicles in obscure colorways than anyone in the country. I remember when Michael Redd wanted a RED Bentley GT after getting his last big contract. Dealers don’t order red exterior Bentleys. There were only two in the US.
We basically had built up a relationship with so many high end dealers that they would go out of their way to dealer trade for cars for us or point us to the right place even if the dealer refused to trade with them. Figuring out that puzzle was the fun part of the job for me.
