Dear @BrandonLewis I am an expert on abortion policy. I have been studying it since 2010. Can you explain to me how a woman / pregnant person in NI can travel to England to access abortion services if she is in a situation of domestic abuse, if she is a single parent ...
if she has children at home with disabilities who need her care, if she has underlying conditions which means she has to self-isolate, if she is an asylum seeker and can't leave the country? How they can travel?
The @NIOgov tweets over the last few days have been disgraceful suggesting that care can be accessed in England. To travel by boat for 8 hours, time on a bus to the clinic and then make the return journey are impractical, putting her at repeated risk of #COVID19.
Abortion clinics in England are experiencing reduction in services due to #COVID19 .. they are being pushed to their limit - why add to this?
Please do listen back to the interview https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m000h1b2 at 1.21 when within 60 seconds the message from @BrandonLewis is #StayHome and then flips to #GetTheBoat - it is quite incredible in the lack of care given to women seeking abortion.
