Gonna listen to some classics today while in the brewery. Starting with Converge - Jane Doe.
Concubine is 1min19secs of pure carnage. Rippingliy fast, and sets the tone to the whole album.
Raw unbridled excellence.
Dissonant and harmonious in equal measure. Technically brilliant from all involved.
SCORE - Cdim5th out if 5

Next up is Mastodon - Leviathan.
For me their best release. With Crack the Sky a close second.
This album feels focuses and tight, musically and lyrically.

Hearts Alive is one of the best prog tracks ever written. Always moving forward, none of it's many sections feels like a segue from the overall direction. The last two minutes really hit the spot after 11 mins of crescendo.
Heavy, rhythmically interesting. Amazing harmony between the three strings. Drums that feel tight and regular but still full to brim with fills.
SCORE: 1 White Whale out of the Deep Blue Sea.
Bonus 1 calf tattoo.

Next up Motorhead - Overkill (79)
Fucking solid heavy Rock n Roll.
No Class, Stay Clean and the Title Track are the standouts on relentless bass blast of an album.

Pretty sure Lemmy was thinking of of this situation when he wrote "Stay Clean" - CIPing BBT 21 and the progressive cavity pump, as well as rigourous hand washing proceedures. Lemmy tried to warn us in 1979 to #StayClean
Rock an roll from beginning to end. Unrelenting.
