This is a very niche opinion to hold, but since i’m bored out of my mind, and furthermore since NO ONE asked for it, I present, iconic pubs in the Rhondda as iconic football teams, a thread:
The Windsor: Liverpool. Massive inferiority complex compared to how good it used to be, went through something of a rebrand and once again establishing itself as one of the best about.
The Lion: Man City. Was absolutely shocking until a couple of years ago when the owner put a shit load of money into them and now a firm favourite of bellends. Wins trophies but will never win the hearts of the people.
The Banc: Man United. Consistently been shit but good for a few years, will always have a massive fan base and even the name is iconic. Capable of greatness but often has a couple of bad apples in the group who spoil everything.
The Hibbs: Leeds. Way past it’s heyday but still fiercely supported by its loyalists. Still a massive name and truly a legend of the game.
New Inn: Real Madrid. Remarkably consistent and will always attract the big names. Been at the top of the game since as far back as anyone can remember and constantly able to lead from the front.
Bistro: PSG. A club that cares more about image than actual substance, been pumped full of money but in an uncompetitive league is always going to look great until it’s put against the other big names.
The Gelli: Chelsea. Worked hard to build a reputation as a ‘proper’ club until new management took over, thought they could chuck money at it, worked for a small time but slowly fading back into obscurity.
Smokies: AC Milan. Still a huge name to people over 40, but hasn’t attracted new fans in the way some of the others had. Still absolute mad cunts support it and guaranteed to be entertained, if slightly scared.

Treorchy Rugby: Arsenal. Somehow always amongst the big names despite having virtually nothing to show for it except the occasional superstar. Capable of the remarkable but also of complete mediocrity.
The Greenfield: Celtic. Head and shoulders above their closest competition geographically, and knows it. A place with great pride despite it underperforming compared to current powerhouses.
Ystrad Rugby: Spurs. Moved into a shiny new place and great things were expected but they’ve firmly stayed exactly where they were prior. Loyal fan base but not very good at playing with others.
The Rez: Galatasaray. Just absolute mad cunts, always. Avoid away days at all costs.
