A lot of old business models are being forced to go digital with #COVID19 because of survival. My worry is that they’re going about it the wrong way. Going digital without Design is like trying to cure AIDS with a condom while remaining promiscuous. Pardon my analogy, condoms rip
Digital is NOT a prophylactic, it is a complete lifestyle change for the customer and a total process overhaul for the producer. There are many things that will not go digital in their current form and will have to die. Selling movie tickets online is not at all like Netflix.
#COVID19 is the greatest opportunity in our lifetime for Design to become mainstream. Processes and needs have to be revisited. New business models will have to be created and recreated through iteration. Design is deeper than a digital coat of paint to make@thjngs look pretty.
I have run out of my quota of analogies for today but I hope we all get the message.
Design is inherently an interative process. Where we make the most fundamental mistake is thinking that the answers are already known. They are discovered through process. Going Digital is a process and NOT a destination. You cant go digital in two months but can start a process.
