After Raghava was coronated as the King of Ayodhya, various high profile sages came to meet him.

They wanted to meet the destroyer of foes and slayer of wicked. The one who mortally wounded Ravana, and relieved this world of it's burden.
Raghava welcomed the sages with proper etiquettes. After a formal exchange of words, serious discussion ensued.

During one such discussion, Raghava asked them about the lineage of Ravana. He wanted to know everything about the great foe, that he just defeated.
His mind was filled with questions, like

• What made Ravana evil?
• How was he so powerful?
• How did he establish his supremacy over the three worlds(त्रिलोक)?

Sage Agastya smiled and started narrating him everything. Whatever he spoke became the basis for Uttara-kanda.
The story goes back to Satyayuga, when Sage Pulastya(पुलस्त्य) — a mind born son of Brahma, was busy in Tapas.

Such was his glory, that people compared him with Brahma himself. Once, he made up his mind and went to Trinabindu Ashram(तृणबिन्दु आश्रम) near Mount Meru.
The purpose was to spend the rest of his time there.

The great sage begun his sadhana but a strange thing happened. In a day or two, dozens of virgin girls started roaming around his cottage. They wanted to hear वेद-ध्वनि and मंत्रोच्चारण.
Without an iota of care in the word, those women danced, sang songs, and played games there.

The great sage tolerated this hindrance for many days but it kept increasing. More women started visiting his cottage.
One day, the sage thought, "Enough is Enough! I'll put an end to it once and for all."

And so, he took some water from a vessel, imbued it with proper mantra, and said as follows, "जो कन्या कल से मेरे इस आश्रम में आएगी या मुझे यहां दिखाई पड़ेगी,‌ वह गर्भवती हो जाएगी।"
Speaking thus, he threw that water on the ground.

The word spread like wildfire and women stopped visiting that cottage. After all, who in their right mind, would want to get pregnant for no reason?
I plan on completing the whole Uttara-kanda in 2-3 days. So I'll keep updating this thread every hour or so.
