A thread on how to cut your own hair when it’s 11pm and you don’t remember the last time you washed it because nobody has a social life anymore
Lemme preface by saying I’ve been cutting my own hair for like two years and I have never been trained or taught past a simple YouTube tutorial
Step one: brush all the nasty knots out of your hair and revel in how greasy it is and how badly you need to touch up your roots
Step two: gather your hair into as many different sections/ponytails as you can. I could only find two elastics so
I have this handy hair kit that my friend gave to me but for like the first year I cut my hair I used fabric scissors so really just work with what you got
Step three: the first major snips with the straight edged scissors. Be conservative with your first cuts bc there’s no going back. Or don’t it’s your hair idgaf
Step four: use these things idk what they’re called but when I rode horses we called a similar tool thinning shears. Anyway just go ham on your hair to make the ends less of a blunt line and blend the likely different length ponytails
Step 4.5: brush all the cut bits out of your hair
Step five: part your hair so that your bangs are the only pieces available for snippage
Step 6: take your bangs and twist them ONCE idk what this does but every YouTuber ever does it so most of the time I do too. Then cut at a pretty steep angle and untwist
