Thread exposing Zayn’s label RCA Records. RCA held back physical copies of his sophomore album “Icarus Falls” a week after it was released on streaming platforms and sending out limited copies to intentionally sabotage his Billboard chart position
Copies of the album were highly limited or completely unavailable in the following countries. Physical copies were released late in Brazil
Fans speculate the album was held back for a year. Malik tweeted the following. The album’s debut track “Let Me” was released in April of 2018, the rollout of the singles was messy and unorganized and the album was not fully released until December
Malik posted audio to one of the album tracks “All That” in March of 2017. Based on the Zayn’s haircut and noticeably missing tattoos, it was also revealed that the music video for one of the album tracks “Satisfaction” was recorded back in 2016
Malik also creatively planned an epic music video story, teasing fans with a continued storyline in music videos for “Dusk Till Dawn”, “Let Me” and “Entertainer” but for unknown reasons the story never reached an end and the briefcase secret was never revealed
Fans speculate that the skewed single releases and pushback from Malik’s label prevented him from finishing the storyline in chronological order. It is also speculated that Malik payed for the production of several of his music videos for his “Icarus Falls” era himself
Only two album tracks impacted radio in the U.S., Malik’s debut track “Let Me” and collab with Nicki Minaj “No Candle No Light”. Efforts to promote Malik’s “Still Got Time” collaboration with PARTYNEXTDOOR in 2017 were quickly abandoned
ZAYN and Sia’s “Dusk Till Dawn” was a worldwide smash hit but also did not heavily impact U.S. radio though it had the potential to do very well and did large numbers WW
Zayn has been the victim of a negative PR campaign since the launch of his solo career (and even before then), many blame Simon Cowell, who was behind his solo record deal with RCA. A false “poser” “bad boy” “mysterious” persona was created to make him sell.
Additionally, his statement regarding his departure from One Direction was crafted NOT by him but by his team. The media also paints Malik as ungrateful for his time in 1D. His personal statements and actions reflect the opposite
The following article hinted that Harry Styles would be the only member to see long-term solo success since he was pushed as the lead by Syco and One Direction management. It’s eerie how accurate this is now with Harry getting the most promo, radio support and hype
Zayn has been the victim of his fair share of leaks. An unreleased track “Cigarettes” was released back in 2018 and a remix with August Alsina. Malik additionally addressed his vocals being used on an unreleased track. Brazilian producer Rafael Allmark claims that Malik’s
label did not try to stop the release of their collaboration or ask consent from Zayn. He apologized to fans for teasing a new song and was forced to refund sales of the track on iTunes and remove it from streaming platforms
Final remarks. Many fans claim radio stations refused to play Zayn’s “Trampoline” remix with SHAED & of course his collaboration with R3HAB “Flames”. WE personally requested these tracks on multiple stations and were told they were not allowed to play them. Even one of Malik’s
producers, Herbie Crichlow has subtly addressed Zayn’s situation and his silence throughout the ongoing creative battle with RCA Records
Zayn’s collaboration “Flames” with R3HAB and Jungleboi was supposed to be sent to AC Top 40 radio but never was. Jungleboi said it didn’t reach the radio on good terms and Zayn’s team did not pay to keep the track on IG music in Latin America
