The Retrospect of Full Moon : A THREAD.
released in 2002 with 3 singles, the project was primarily produced by Rodney Jerkins and his Darkchild team.
with the release of “Full Moon”, Brandy experimented with her sound and voice to record material for the album.
before the release of Full Moon, Brandy and Ray J covered “Another Day In Paradise” by Phill Collins for a tribute album. brandy’s tone and childish were insane here.
What About Us, (2002).
Full Moon, (2002).
written by @WarrynCampbell, “He Is” became one of brandy’s best vocal performances and most covered songs.
known for her complex harmonies and unique vocal runs, brandy took her technique and vocal agility to the next level on the album. here’s the acapella version of “Full Moon”.
before we get into the album cuts, the beautiful @PeoplesOracle did a thread on the foundation of Full Moon. one of my favorite things about this album is that brandy learned how to manipulate her tone, and travel through her range. https://twitter.com/peoplesoracle/status/1052292953765498880
the great @iamMelsmith taught me a lot about what it means to be a singer, brandy’s voice, and how “Full Moon”, Darkchild and Brandy changed the way singers create background vocals. https://twitter.com/iammelsmith/status/1103332028328628225
“When You Touch Me” became a fan favorite. I love how confident she sang here.
“WOW”.
“Love Wouldn’t Count Me Out”. my favorite from the album, I love how she worked her way through the bridge and let her voice fade out at the end.
“I Thought” is one of, if not the greatest display of brandy’s use of ad libs. she sang her ass off.
“Come A Little Closer” A GEM!!
“Die Without You”. once again, brandy snapped. I love the way she matched ray j’s runs, and her vocal choices are phenomenal.
“It’s Not Worth It” showcases brandy’s expertise use of tone manipulation. it also featured ad libs from Michael Jackson.
“Nothing”.
“All In Me”. I love the breakdown and her ad libs toward the ending.
Legendary @BSladeNow talking about full moon, brandy’s voice and influence.
the amazing @StacyBarthe titling brandy as “The Vocal Bible”, which is simply crediting her for inspiring many singers after her.
my boy @1tarig did a thread a while back and included this video of India Arie speaking on brandy’s influence. still my favorite video ever. https://twitter.com/1tarig/status/962735647365644288
another thread of artists speaking on brandy by @MrMouthAlmighty. https://twitter.com/mrmouthalmighty/status/901513121805856771
ending the thread with one of my favorite songs ever. “Believer”, produced by timbaland and writen by @fauntleroy who also has his own version.
