If I were a #Year12 student in Australia, I would be spending some of my iso time putting together a portfolio of work I have done that I am proud of and creating a narrative reflection to say what each piece says about my skillset. I would also be up-skilling myself...
...on things I am interested in (so many free resources out there) and which may prove useful..., learn a language, coding & algorithmic thinking, graphics skills, self management skills, spreadsheets, writing... I would be watching 2 TEDTalks a day, keeping fit and helping...
...others. I would be learning how to cook so that when I do leave home (if I have not already) I will be ready. This pause is a gift. All you are waiting for is a Government brave enough to allow you to show how amazing you are in a different format to exams and ATAR scores.
Universities, employers, not-for-profits etc will be desperately seeking out self-regulating, critical and creative thinkers who are ethical, empathic, community minded, connected and able to lead in their own way, in times of uncertainty. Not people who spent "the pause"...
doing nothing or studying for exams which may or may not happen in 2020 or 2021. I know the Year 12s (& 11s, 10s, 9s, 8s, 7s, 6,s, 5s, 4s, 3s, 2s, 1s, Kindys and pre-schoolers) are ready and able to let their light shine. We just need to give them permission. #onlinetogetherAU
