Requests and observations of a cashier at a grocery store, a thread.

1. COVID-19 is real. It is not something that you can choose to believe in or not. Your arrogance and stupidity put all of us in danger. It makes it very difficult to be nice to you.
2. If you must come to the store, please be a conscientious shopper. Use the provided gloves and sanitizer for the cart. Plastic is of the devil, yes, but right now it's a life-saver. Please put your produce in it. That way I don't touch your food.
3. If there's a sign outside of the store that reads: "One (1) person per family if possible, please." Then please take that seriously. Grocery shopping is for survival, not family outings. I don't want to see three generations of a family with a kid running around...
3 con't...not being controlled by any of the adults touching and begging for things - being ignored by the mother. It's not a time to take dates to the store either. If a family member absolutely can't go, then please shop for them. Thank you to everyone who already does that.
4. Please be patient with everyone in the store, not just employees. Be patient all humans. Full stop. If someone accidentally bumps into you - even if it hurts don't yell at them. Let them apologize and accept it gracefully. You only look like a bad person if you don't.
5. Please continue to thank those working at the grocery store. Do it again and again. We're putting our health in danger to work for you. If you don't thank people who are working in your store, then please do it. It's very touching to have someone thank me. Makes it work it.
6. If there are plastic shields, please use them. They may be misplaced based on available space and therefore inconvenient but they're there for your benefit as well as mine.
7. If you're doing a pick-up or delivery please tip. And tip well. You don't have to give 20% but maybe a fiver.
8. Please, please, please don't come in every day. Don't come in every-other-day. Come in once a week. At most. Come in once every-other-week.
Finally. We're all in this together, right? Remember that. Remember that always. Every time you're in. Thank you.
