Y’know what, since this is going on, I’m gonna give y’all my experience with Cooking Mama: Cookstar. A thread:
On March 31st, I went onto the eshop to buy the game, as I’d been anticipating it (I’m a huge fan of the series). It wasn’t on there, but it was on gamestop, which only sold physical copies. I bought the game with two day shipping and got subsequent emails for such.
April 1st: I got an email saying my game had been shipped.
April 3rd: Just as planned, I got the game in a package. Gamestop also sent the email about the game being delivered.
Same day: I began to play the game. There was a small download needed beforehand but that was it. When you load it up, it shows the companies invovled, including the original developers. So if this was illegally done, I imagine Office Create/Cooking Mama ltd. would sue.
The game plays like any other cooking mama game, save for the controls changed to match with the switch layout. Honestly? I like it. It’s fun and I love the new recipes. The graphics seem a little dated but cooking mama was never known for its graphics anyways.
There’s a vegetarian mode and at the end of each recipe you’re able to take a picture of your food and upload it to social media. I haven’t uploaded anything since my internet is slow. Also, you can customize Mama’s outfit with pieces you unlock from cooking.
I’ve played it for about 3-4 hours with no overheating, and I was able to load it and play while being offline. I do find it weird, however, that the game is no available on the eshop. Yesterday the game was given a large update that took me about 20 minutes to download.
My conclusion? I feel like there is a lot of mystery around this game that needs to be cleared up, but I have a feeling it’s not as outrageous as people seem to think. If I’m proven wrong, however, I’ll update this thread. Thanks. :)
