OPPORTUNITIES DURING MOVEMENT CONTROL ORDER (MCO)

It has been more than two weeks that the MCO was imposed in Malaysia. I look back on how I have spent that time at home...

This is a thread.
1. From Day One of the MCO, I am grateful to Allah swt that He guided me to contribute RM100 on a daily basis, rotating between a few charitable organizations that I trust i.e. JAKIM, MAIS, Tabung COVID-19 (the government's), Ustaz Ebit Lew and Ustaz Dasuki.
2. I developed a habit of walking at home (Yes, find that on Youtube!) and other exercises such as kickboxing and strength training, for an hour in the morning at the balcony. It allows me to enjoy the morning sun, breathe some fresh air and enjoy the beauty of the outside world.
3. I finally cooked and baked recipes that I have always wanted to make from scratch but never truly had the time: Nasi Beriani, Ayam Beriani, Cinnamon Rolls! I was so proud of myself when I plated a Nasi Beriani made from scratch, and frosted a whole tray of cinnamon rolls!
4. I spend time reciting the Al-Quran and instilling a habit of reciting surahs that are recommended to read daily at night i.e. Yasin, Al-Waqiah, Al-Mulk, Al-Jinn, Ayat 33. I was also halfway through reciting the Al-Quran and intend to complete it before the MCO ends.
5. The pandemic has certainly awakened the fear of the coming of the Dajjal in me. So, I spent time watching Youtube Islamic talks concerning signs of the End of Times. I recommend the 'Kiamat Hampir Tiba' series by Sheikh Fahmi Zam Zam.
6. I enjoyed the leisurely hours spent reading Chic Literature. It removes the panic, anxiety of scrolling through Twitter feeds and relaxes me. It takes me back to my younger years and it feels nice to be able to indulge in it for a while..
All in all, I realized that the MCO has allowed me to catch-up on my to-do list, the ones that were always pushed back for more urgent matters. Finally, from a Muslim perspective, this pandemic is once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to do extraordinary good deeds. Don't miss out.
