Soooo I'm watching Keanu Reeves's movies in chronological order (according to IMDB). You've been warned; I'll keep this in a thread. #CopingWithCOVID #KeanuReeves
First up: Youngblood (1986) -- starring baby Rob Lowe and Patrick Swayze!!
OKAY so Keanu only had like 5 lines in this movie
but he was very adorable. Overall it hasn't aged super well; but as an 80s-era sports movie it's enjoyable enough; & you see Rob Lowe's butt, so if you're into that...

Join me tomorrow for Dream to Believe (1986) -- I think this is Kay's first starring role

Also just as a note (b/c you all care so much I'm sure) I'm skipping TV movies unless I can easily find them from legitimate sites that don't look like they'll give me 1001 different kinds of malware with one click... #SafetyFirst
Okay except his character can't get the female lead to date him and I find this narrative wholly unrealistic

THIS MOVIE WAS ADORABLE THE END.
Tonight's #KeanuReeves themed adventure: Brotherhood of Justice (1986)
I appreciate that this movie acknowledges that you can still recognize when a person you know is wearing a ski-mask
Interesting ok so the basic premise of this one was bored rich high schoolers become proud boys but then their ringleader realizes gang violence is wrong & turns everyone in to the police (including himself)
Spoilers but it's from 1986 & you're never going to read this tweet or see this movie so whatever.
The saga continues with: River's Edge (1986)
Keanu's performance in this one is authentic, relatable, dramatic, and shows emotional range so haters COME AT ME.
The Keanu-athon continues, and we're still trapped in 1986 with the TV movie: Under the Influence
We are all very angry in this movie
Also ever since I started watching @Sideways440 I hear "dies irae" EVERYWHERE and this movie is no exception
THIS IS MOVIE IS THE STRANGEST. A real quote: "And Mrs. Pepper! You should be ashamed forcing your poor daughter to go live in a bowling ball, just to pay your mortgage."
Babes in Toyland, starring 11 year-old Drew Barrymore, Mr. Miyagi, and a physic cyclops chicken #whathaveIgottenmyselfinto
Mr. Miyagi was Santa Claus all along! WHO WOULD HAVE GUESSED #BabesInToyland
Annnd we're back! With the 1988 comedy "The Night Before"
Yeaaaah sooo the premise doesn't hold up to the times (getting lost on the wrong side of town in the age of Google) & since when was accidentally selling your prom date into prostitution funny?

A few funny lines and Keanu's adorkableness aside, this one was NOT my favorite.
It's a double feature Friday, so we're continuing with Permanent Record (1988)
"This trip through space and time is gonna be over on its own soon enough isn't it? It doesn't need any help from me. I came into this thing screaming and kicking, I want out the same way."

This movie is heartbreaking y'all.
Just when you thought it was safe & I'd abandoned my #KeanuReevesReWatch I'm back! With 1988's Prince of Pennsylvania
"Yuckiness is truth!" #PrinceofPennsylvania

If I push on & watch one more, then next time I'll start w/ #BillandTedsExcellentAdventure! Sooo, double feature it is. Onward to Dangerous Liasions (1988).
Oooo it's the first Warner Brothers movie Kay did! STARRING GLENN CLOSE & JOHN MALKOVICH. And it's a period piece

Uma Thurman's in this too?! Dayyuum #DangerousLiaisons
Vicomte de Valmont: I often wonder how you manage to invent yourself.
Marquise de Merteuil: Well, I had no choice, did I? I'm a woman. Women are obliged to be far more skillful than men.
I like this movie. #DangerousLiaisons #KeanuReevesReWatch

I like this movie. #DangerousLiaisons #KeanuReevesReWatch
To be clear: Keanu had a supporting role & executed well. This is definitely the best film so far according to cinematography & narrative. Two villians (Close & Malkovich) in pre-revolution France determined to best each other at any cost.
It was an Oscar Best Picture nom in 1989; so if you're an Oscar buff or especially if you're a fan of Malkovich or Close; worth a watch. There is abusive content; so warning there. It's not excused; the "protagonists" are all terrible humans, that's clear.
The time has come for a MOST EXCELLENT adventure

According to #BillandTed we make it to 2688 & life is great. So don't mind me as I desperately cling to that hope

Is this the first "woah" of Keanu's career? I think it might be.
I mean how do I even place a movie like Bill and Ted? This is QUINTESSENTIAL Keanu. It's beyond rating. A Keanu Classic. It's a ridiculous farcical movie & I will always love it.
I am very excited when I catch up to @coolbreezepod's episode on Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure to hear their thoughts! Keanu-stans unite!

Annnnnnd I'm back! With our LAST MOVIE OF THE 80s: Parenthood (1989) #KeanuReWatch
Procrastinating editing to continue the #KeanuReWatch with I Love You to Death (1990)
Not excited for this one, but we'll see where it goes...
Not excited for this one, but we'll see where it goes...
James Horner is this movie's composer & this is the first shock of the night
"That's how come in America we can live safe and have a good life...You work hard, you pay your taxes you obey the law, you can have anything you want."
Am I laughing or crying? Crying. Defffffinitely crying. That 90s optimism cuts deep in 2020...

We're 27mins in & there's no Keanu yet.

Okay this movie is a farce & I'm actually starting to find it charming; but this took 77 minutes of it's 97 minute runtime sooooo not my fave #KeanuReWatch
I want to get to Point Break soooo baaaad & the two movies in my way do not excite me; but on we shall slog. #KeanuMarathon #KeanuStan
Kay plays a fledgling writer in this movie & there are typewriters & those encompass all my thoughts.
GET HYPED! I couldn't find Providence (1991); and since @coolbreezepod couldn't find that one either, that means it's time for one of the movies I'm most excited to view FOR THE FIRST TIME:
Point Break (1991)
#SOEXCITED #PointBreak #KeanuReeves
Point Break (1991)
#SOEXCITED #PointBreak #KeanuReeves
Okay in my timeline Johnny Utah was John Wick's real name so this movie is baby Wick obvs you can't keep the same name going from FBI to world renowned assassin don't question just go with me
SURFING TRAINING MONTAGE!!!

Bodhi is also officially Johnny Castle after he's done with the Catskills...
And it is obvious why this movie solidified Keanu as a action star. The fight scenes in this are
#PointBreak

"Why can't I ever say what I really mean?"

BAWLING!
