The Death of Socrates
Painting by Jacques-Louis David ♥️🎨
For the crime of impiety, the Athenian courts executed the Greek philosopher Socrates (469–399 B.C.) | 💡If you’re interested read the thread 🙏🏼
His behavior towards the gods was considered to be irreverent, and he had developed a corrupting influence on his young male followers. Socrates refused to renounce his conviction and died happily, debating the immortality of the soul before drinking the cup of poisonous hemlock
The painting articulated the idea of rejecting unjust authority, among David's most valuable works. The canvas is also his great Neoclassical style statement .. < هذا ڤيديو ممتع للي حاب يعرف أكثر ♥️♥️
