MAJOR SPOILERS FOR P5R LOOK AWAY. God how good is the villain [SPOILER] in P5R? I genuinely didn't want to fight him in the end of the game. I felt his pain and what he wanted truly was noble. Had they not made it obvious that you should reject him I probably wouldn't have
Maruki truly did only want to make a world where everyone was happy. Had the circumstances been that the world would exist independent of him I would have chosen his world, everyone was truly happy and was able to get what they wanted in the end.
By the end of the game everyone practically got what they wanted from his world.
Ryuji's moving so he can get back into track
Ann's moving so she can model and possibly see Shiho
Makoto is pursuing a career in police to be closer to her sister and father.
Haru's studying business in college so she can take over her father's business and run it the way she believes it should be.
Futaba's going back to high school permanently fulfilling her promise list with her mom.
Sumire's fulfilling the wishes her and Kasumi made together
Yusuke's continuing his painting skills
Morgana's living on with Joker and being happy with him.
It's because Maruki showed them what a world could be like if they wanted it badly enough that everyone had the drive to do what they truly wanted. That much can be seen in base P5 where Maruki isn't there. Everyone just gets sad that Joker moves away and nothing changes.
In P5R the group is shown what future they could have as long as they fight for it. Maruki is truly the best video game "Villain" because he wasn't even evil. Sure his feelings were distorted, but he was only distorted in how much he wanted his desires to happen.
I truly didn't want to fight Maruki, I was hoping there would be an option to compromise with him. He had real pain that he didn't want anyone else to feel and used his powers to make a world in which no one would be in pain.
Overall, originally P5R was an 8 out of 10 for me because I didn't think the third semester would be as good as it was. The third semester alone is worth the $60 just because of how much it changes how I look at Persona 5 going forward.
I don't think I can ever go back to playing base P5 because the "god of control" came out of nowhere and isn't a good fight either it has no emotion tied to it because it showed up out of no where.
Maruki made me sad to fight him, the entire fight "both phases" I didn't want to hit him but I obviously had to because video game. I loved the fist fight he had with Joker. It was chockfull of emotion and it was amazing.
The final boss of P5R is amazing and I'm so glad I got to play this amazing game. Kasumi's story was amazing and I can see it bringing people to tears. Not to mention the song choices for third semester is ungodly good once you know the context it's played in.
This part of the thread is because sometimes twitter will show the last parts of a thread and I don't want anyone to be spoiled on it.
So if you haven't finished P5R don't read this thread it's full of spoilers but come back to it after you beat it.
After sitting for almost two months the only thing I would change on this thread is that the third semester alone is not worth the $60 price point lol. Third semester would be worthy of $40 tho
