NIMBY has gotten so distorted and abused by pro-development orgs, that it is threatened with losing its meaning.

This is, in the most pure definition, NIMBY. People in Pacific Heights and Cow Hollow opposing a temporary homeless shelter at the Palace of Fine Arts.
Oh Jesus. It gets worse.
There goes our property values!
"Put the homeless on a Princess cruise, so they can get the virus."
This is the first time I've seen a self-identified NIMBY.
"There's plenty of room for the homeless at Candlestick Park!" (which was demolished in 2015)
Siri, show me "entitlement."
"I have compassion, but..."
"They will be camped out all around the Palace. Just using it as their personal toilet, garbage can, and needle disposal."
Now that the shelter plan is shut down, which reasoning. It just wasn't compassionate to have those people near me.

"This is not nimby. This is a neighborhood who cares."
Continuing this thread of absolutely horrible people in San Francisco's Marina district, because somehow the Nextdoor thread lives on after the homeless shelter was shelved. Including some from this thread. https://twitter.com/mayavada/status/1247320930361020416
